    CALLING ALL DANCERS

Are you a fan of dancing?  Do you love to ‘strut your stuff’ on the dance floor?

Do you appreciate the benefits of dancing – the exercise, meeting others who share the same passion for dance and the opportunity to ‘let go’ and twist and twirl your cares away?

Then why not organise a group of like minded friends and colleagues and come to Gaunts for a weekend or few days of dancing and having fun.

We have three great dance spaces – The Ballroom, The Barn Theatre and the converted Squash Court.  We provide delicious vegetarian catering, comfortable accommodation, (some with en suite facilities) and acres of glorious Dorset countryside to explore when taking time out from the dance floor.

We can tailor the weekend to suit your requirements so why not call us or email.

We will be delighted to hear from you and discuss all possibilities for providing your group with a most enjoyable few days in our country mansion.

    Let the Dancing begin!

Gaunts House invites you for a sit down dinner followed by an intimate concert in the Ballroom from Jeremy Johnson.

British singer songwriter Jeremy Johnson combines poetic narrative songwriting, sonorous vocals and accomplished guitar melodies in his powerful, intricately constructed music.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lqIZr62gZQ&list=PLn0JaAVoK0CpzMfvtW3QYKZSd0Cdzh8yU

Jeremy’s first self released album ‘32nd Orbit’ enjoyed significant local radio play in the midlands on both BBC Introducing and Touch FM, leading to a BBC interview at BBC Introducing Live by DJ Andrew Marston. Right now Jeremy is working on his second album with producer Simon Britcliffe (Snow Patrol, Keane) at Decoy Studios in Suffolk which is due for general release in March 2019. Just the right time to come and play us some of his new music at Gaunts House.

The bar will be open for the evening for refreshments.

Please contact admin@gauntshouse.com 01202 841 522 for more information about this event.

This Retreat offers an opportunity to refresh and revive your mind, body and spirit, working with two highly experienced Qigong teachers in this beautiful venue. Known as ‘mindful movement’ or ‘moving meditation’, Qigong is a gentle, relaxing and strengthening exercise which helps calm the mind and enliven the body. The retreat is suitable for all levels – beginners or experienced Qigong practitioners.

Sally Ibbotson and Tricia Teahan are skilled and experienced Teachers of Qigong and this is the fourth retreat they have led together.

Sally and Tricia will be teaching at a relaxed pace over the retreat days.

Our aim is to teach you, through demonstration and working together with you, a gradual step by step approach to the Elemental work, based on both our experiences, so that by the end of the retreat you will have a complete sequence to practice on your own.

The Qigong movements we will cover are based on the Five Elements Theory - a Chinese philosophy used to describe interactions and relationships between things. The five elements — Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire — are believed to be the fundamental elements of everything in the universe between which interactions occur. Each Element will have a series of movements and walks.

The schedule is flexible, and pace is often dictated by the participants’ needs. The most important aim is that you enjoy the movements and walks and allow yourself to move and flow with ease as you practice. There will be time for reflection with breaks throughout the day, as well as time to enjoy some walks in nature in the beautiful grounds of Gaunt's House or a swim (there is an open-air swimming pool on the grounds).

A ‘You Tube’ video of some of the work will be available after the retreat.

    FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS EVENTS

"I felt relaxed and uplifted… great teaching, flexible schedule and appropriate 'time out’..."

"Your instructions were clear and the You Tube videos provided great back up after the retreat"

" I so enjoyed the venue and was pleased to work outside."

    RETREAT LEADERS

Sally is a professional Qigong Instructor leading classes in the NHS and for Open Age, an organisation addressing isolation in older adults.  She is qualified in teaching Qigong for rehabilitation and in practising and teaching Massage. She has also taught Qigong to employees, for Corporations, and in residential care homes.  She is also a Shiatsu Practitioner and Massage Therapist working mainly in the area of Women’s health.

Tricia has studied and practised Qigong for over 20 years and draws her enthusiasm and interest from some of her great teachers throughout the years, notably Thalbert Allen of the College of Elemental Chi Kung and Zhixing Wang of Hua Gong.  Tricia is also a professional Craniosacral therapist and a Shiatsu Practitioner.  Her main areas of work have been with Breast Cancer Haven London, City Lit Adult Education and with senior groups at Community Centres and Open Age.

AWAKE! records of the massive peaceful resistance led by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to the Dakota Access Pipeline through their land and underneath the Missouri River.

AWAKE, A Dream from Standing Rock is a powerful visual poem in three parts that uncovers complex hidden truths with simplicity. The film is a collaboration between indigenous filmmakers: Director Myron Dewey and Executive Producer Doug Good Feather; and environmental Oscar-nominated filmmakers Josh Fox and James Spione.

The Water Protectors at Standing Rock captured world attention through their peaceful resistance. The film documents the story of Native-led defiance that has forever changed the fight for clean water, our environment and the future of our planet. It asks: "Are you ready to join the fight?"

Both Scania and Heike are local to the area and have held many workshops at Gaunts which has fabulous grounds, a lake, woodland and a pool which can all be enjoyed exclusively by the group . We shall gather to celebrate the summer season and enjoy time and space at this lovely place, with full board - home made delicious vegetarian (or optional vegan) food a full program of sound healing, rhythm, fire & ceremony

To offer an accessible affordable space that people can come to reboot, rebalance and reintegrate .

In circle and alone, using all elements (fire, wind, earth, water and air) we experience Sound Medicine and access Portals into our depths. With the support of Scania and Heike and our retreat family, this journey is possible to allow you to relax and come back home to yourself transformed.

We will acknowledge that we have just passed the Summer Solistice when this retreat starts. This open and perfect place is perfect to access visible connection between sky and earth, body and soul for deep Gong work, drumming, singing, healing and celebration. You are welcome to have private retreat time as well as integration when you want it.

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. You can do all of the workshops or dip in when you feel like it. It is after all your retreat time.

The intention behind this Sound Medicine retreat is to dive into the healing alchemy of sound medicine. Sound healing is rooted in the principle that everything in existence is made of micro-vibrations and to keep our body/heart/mind in good health it makes sense to keep ourselves in tune. Through vocal practices, healing instruments, intention and tuning ourselves back into nature, we are able to bring ourselves back into vibrational alignment.

This retreat is suitable for all adults and all levels of experience, all we need is an open heart. Great care will be taken to ensure that everyone feels they have support and feels safe and comfortable at all times.

Breathe A Festival of Life will take place on the weekend of 29th August, through to the 1st September 2019 at the magnificent location of Gaunt’s House in the Dorset countryside, UK.
    So what is Breathe?
Our vision is to create a Breathwork Festival that brings people together in a beautiful and inspiring space, to Breathe…to be alive and to feel it, to be in deep acceptance of it, to honor and celebrate it… to breathe in - expand, open up and receive, to breathe out - surrender, let go, sit in stillness and receive the wisdom that will guide us.
It is a gathering to celebrate and experience Breathwork as a powerful tool for the exploration and expression of our true essence and voice. It is an invitation to allow and empower ourselves, to be who we are and live authentically as part of this world.
Held in safe and nurturing indoor and outdoor spaces, in the naturally peaceful and uplifting site of Gaunts House, we will share this adventure with an array of wonderful practitioners who will provide guidance and support along the way. There will be workshops, talks by keynote speakers and individual sessions in different Breathwork techniques as well as in other modalities and activities. Our beautiful journey over the weekend will include introductory and advanced Breathwork workshops & talks, yoga, meditation, gong baths, dance, fire ceremony, visualizations, music and much more. More details on the programme will follow on the website https://www.festivaloflife.co.uk/

    DEATH CAFE - THURSDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2019, 7.30PM - (FREE TO ATTEND)

“It is not death that we should fear, but we should fear never beginning to live.” (Marcus Aurelius.)

We are delighted to welcome award-winning Sacred Celebrant Ellie Brooks (IPHM) to Gaunts House on Thursday 28th November to host our very first Death Cafe.

A Death Cafe is a gathering of people who come together to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.

The objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.

Ellie, who is the founder of Wildflower Ceremonies, will begin the evening at 7.30pm, when she will be inviting those of all faiths and none to join in a friendly discussion about death and dying, without any set agenda, objective or theme.

(It is important to note that the Death Café hosts a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.)

Death Cafés are a global phenomenon, and are always offered:

    - On a not for profit basis
    - In an accessible, respectful and confidential space
    - With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action
    - Alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – and cake!

We are delighted to be co-hosting this fascinating event and refreshments will be available for purchase during the evening.

This evening is free to attend but pre-booking is essential to secure your place - and so we can make sure we have enough refreshments available!

To book your place, please email Ellie on hello@wildflowerceremonies.co.uk, or call 07922 591684.

There is a wealth of information about Death Cafes to be found on the Death Cafe national website: https://deathcafe.com.

We are delighted to invite you to this nourishing weekend of fun, connection and deep
    transformation held at Gaunts House.
Tantra is a map that shows us how to tap into the life energy within us, through sex, heart
and spirit, that has the power to transform our lives, bringing a new quality of aliveness
and awareness into every area of our experience. Tantra is a non-prescriptive path, where
everyone can go at their own speed, following their hearts. It is an incredible journey of
    self-discovery, self-acceptance and ultimately self-love.

In this residential weekend of tantra, with elements from bio-energetics and shamanism,
we will discover our energy body, and how we can embody spirit and the sacred on this
    earth.
We have both a physical body and an energy body, and live simultaneously in both
    dimensions.
While the physical body experiences physical reality through the five senses, as opposed
to the virtual reality of the mind, the energy body can experience directly energetic reality
around us. This includes such apparent mysteries as love, sex, relationships, power over
and under, spirit and the divine, and the meaning of life.
Without awareness of the energy body we are lost, our sacred dream (or life purpose) is
at best a concept, an idea, and we are victims of the energies around us. We are easily
invaded, controlled, manipulated, and we turn to external authority to tell us what we
should do and how we should live.
With the energy body we can follow the authority of our own hearts and find our sacred
dream and mission, feel how the universe guides us and discover who are teachers and
    supporters on our path.
We will develop our awareness of our energy body and its possibilities. We will learn how
to choose freely when to perceive life through our hearts, or through our felt desires as
opposed to our projections, or through the consciousness of our spirit and of the karmic
connection between our actions and their effect on others.
We will become aware of what robs us of our life-force and what nourishes us.
We will learn more and more to enjoy our creativity and become creators of our own life,
manifesting our desires, our hopes and wishes, and our dreams.
We will experience ourselves and others as a unique being with a sacred flame inside.
Our lives can be filled with meaning as we tap into our soul purpose.
No partner is required and everyone will have the opportunity to work with different
people in order to enjoy a greater range of experiences. If you attend with a partner or
friend, you are welcome to work together for the whole workshop or whatever portion
    you wish.
We create a safe space where you are invited to do as much as feels comfortable for you.
There will be no nudity at this event. Wear loose, comfortable clothes you can move
freely in and an attitude of curiosity.

The workshop facilitators are Jon and Rose Skelton Pearson.

Rose’s background is in massage therapy and also as a teacher of ‘Heart in Motion’
therapeutic dance. She has been on a tantric journey since 2007 and has studied with John
Hawken since 2014 when she undertook a year-long training in Tantra Massage. During
that time, she has facilitated workshops both in the UK and Australasia. Currently she
lives in Brighton, UK and offers workshops and sessions with her husband, Jon.
Jon’s experience is a braid woven of many strands. As a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist,
he trained, lectured, supervised and practised for 20 years from the Manchester Institute
for Psychotherapy in the UK. He has practised and taught yoga and meditation since 1983
and ran the Calderdale Yoga Centre for eight years. Active in Ken Wilber’s Integral
Movement since the 1990s he is an Associate Integral Life Coach. He has been a student of
John Hawken since 2017 and considers his Paths of Transformation to be the most
integrated, effective and enjoyable system of psycho-spiritual development for anybody
wishing to explore what it is to be a human being in the 21st Century. He brings a deep
knowledge, warmth and humour to the workshops and individual sessions he offers with
    Rose, his wife.

Come and join Scania and Heike 2pm-4:30pm on the day of the Winter Solstice Friday 20th December at Gaunts House in the theatre for an afternoon of Gongs, Drums,Labyrinth walking and fire ceremony.

The WINTER SOLSTICE has been celebrated in cultures the world over for thousands of years. Traditionally, the solstice is about clarifying and setting intentions for the coming 365 days cycle. This start of the solar year is a celebration of light and the rebirth of the sun — when we learn to appreciate the longest, darkest nights and look ahead toward the lengthening days. For from out of the darkness and cold, the light and hope returns.

As you prepare for this shift, you will discover that there is an immense need for slowing down, for silence and resting. We encourage you to take this time to listen to those things that speak without words. Whether this is your first experience walking a labyrinth or your hundredth, you’ll notice that some things will change and some may stay the same. Its’ all about working with Nature, not against her, and learning to celebrate the seasonal transition.

Scania and Heike welcome you into the space to warm teas, allowing yourself to arrive

We begin with a drumming Session with Heike.

We then go into a Gong Session with Scania allowing our bodies and minds to relax and just be.

As we awaken, noticing the changes in us and step into the next part of the afternoon crossing over the lawn to breathe the calm peace of the labyrinth.

Walk at your own pace and enjoy quiet meditation.

Let a walk through the labyrinth be an opportunity, within the specific energy of the changing season, to take this pause and reflect.

We finish with the opportunity to use the ritual of fire to release our intentions into the longer days that approach. A cauldron will be lit and paper offered if you wish to release your intention into the fire.

Come and join us Winter Solstice 20th December at Gaunts House in the theatre for an evening of Gongs, Drums and Fire.

    THE WINTER SOLSTICE

The earth rotates on a tilted axis. When this axis leans towards the sun, it’s summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the south. This is reversed as the earth continues on its orbit until the axis becomes tilted away from the sun.

During the winter solstice, the earth’s axis is tilted at its furthest point from the sun. This means that, for us in the northern hemisphere, the sun is at its lowest point in the sky. It’s also the shortest day of the year - and the longest night.

We welcome you into the space to warm teas, allowing yourself to arrive

We then go into a Gong Session with Scania allowing our bodies and minds to relax and just be.

As we awaken, noticing the changes in us and step into the next part of the evening with our drumming circle with Heike, allowing the ritual of sound to flow through us.

The Gong and Drum is a psychoacoustic gateway to heightened states of awareness and consciousness. It is an ideal tool for stress reduction, stimulation of the glandular system, and to break up emotional blockages. When skilfully played, gongs stimulate and resonate all cells in the human body simultaneously and recalibrate the parasympathetic nervous system.

The Gongs and Drums will create a sacred space, they allow us to attune our energies and link with our higher selves. During this evening we can be reminded of the fact that in spite of outward appearances, we are really beings of light occupying physical bodies. The gong Bath and the drum circle will allow time and space to connect with that divine-light energy in order to recharge our “spiritual batteries” I invite you to join Scania and Heike with beautiful gongs, drums and voice for an evening of sound. Booking essential,
