Gaunts House is first heard of around 1355 when it was left to John of Gaunt by his beloved wife Blanche, daughter and heiress of the old Duke of Lancaster. Beneath the present red-brick mansion is one of Portland stone, built around 1752 by Sir Richard Glyn, Lord Mayor of London. More info HEREGaunts Estate
Gaunts Estate consists of a large-ish farm - dairy, livestock and arable, a number of dwellings and country establishments, woodlands, a long stretch of River Allen, excellent wildlife, Gaunts House, and Honeybrook.
Honeybrook is a traditional small farm with lots to do for all the family. It’s open 9.30am – 5pm Tuesday – Sunday all year round, and additionally Mondays during the summer holidays and bank holidays. Honeybrook also has its own butchery, bakery and farm shop.

Honeybrook Farm is the home to an innovative youth programme called ‘Wildskills’ which is run by the Foundation Ranger Team.
The Ranger Team have created base camps within the Gaunts Estate making it possible to offer many varied habitats and landscapes to work from.
Types of activities they facilitate include: shelter building, fire making using forgotten and ‘lost’ skills, team building activities, navigation, tracking, campfire cooking, fishing, making natural cord baskets and bracelets, and much besides.
The aim of the ‘Wildskills’ Youth Programmes is to help develop self-awareness, self-confidence and positive self-esteem so that young people may better perceive and ascertain creative, ethical and worthwhile understandings and values on which to base their adult lives - and of course to have fun and adventures in the great outdoors!

.The Richard Glyn Charitable Foundation Ltd
The Richard Glyn Charitable Foundation (RGCF) began its educational work in 1982 at High Lea School for Children, before moving to Gaunts House in 1988, becoming a registered UK charity in 1995.
For some time now we have recognised the need to re-evaluate every aspect of modern life in the West, and realise that the complete re-thinking and revolution of new ways takes time and patience. We see the way forward as expanding awareness of consciousness, reaching beyond the confines of the individual and collective mind. We believe in sharing real experiences and realisations so that we may learn to grow as rounded and grounded human beings.
The Foundation seeks Realisations of Life through wisdom teachings, mindfulness, conscious awareness and pure intent in thought, expression and action. We offer learning on: Communication, Community, Contemplation, 'Conversations', Creative Arts & Expression, Education, the Environment, Healing, 'Hearth Times', Meditation, New Organisational Structures, Philosophy, Spirituality and particularly 'Profound Learning'.
The Foundation continues to be a central part of the growing holistic awareness and ‘new’ consciousness presently emerging in the UK and the world. Our CharterThe following are selected paragraphs from our charter of 1989:
To provide an environment for personal development, education, information and training, refreshment, rejuvenation and joy: where like minded people may come together to share their vision, knowledge, talents, skills and wisdom to evolve more perfect lives individually and together towards a more perfect universal community.
The environment will encourage an awareness of, and a striving towards that personal and all embracing, spiritual peace, light, love, energy and bliss in and from which all truth, meaning, creation and beauty exist and flow. In this essence of life and growth are found the understandings and freedom which all people seek, and from this essence springs fulfilment, harmony, balance, content and happiness, eternally and for all.
The environment will be so created as to encourage a tacit, social sensitivity, where each person is welcome free of prejudice; where individuals and families are conspicuously associated by a sense of awareness, caring and concern, rather than by any contemporary, social yardstick, wealth, creed, nationality or background. No single religion, philosophy, party political cant nor dogma of any kind will be adopted by the community. English shall be the first language; communication, mutual understanding shall be the first endeavour.
The environment will enjoy an open, calm, joyful, healthy and secure atmosphere such that visitors may feel inspired to seek their inner self and their own path to follow; may come to realise soul in its unity and infinity and the shades of ego and its illusions; may gain an understanding of God universal and within; may seek to perceive the true self in their fellows and in all things, the better to evolve and communicate, to give and to receive, generally and particularly; where each may grow in certainty and confidence, better able to transcend the challenges and vicissitudes of life, to live and rejoice in that stream of brilliance, vital energy and bliss that we know as love.
