Why Gaunts House?

During your stay, you will be provided with meals lovingly prepared meals. Our catering team have a great reputation for providing freshly produced, delicious home cooked vegetarian cuisine. According to season and availability we like to use our own organic Gaunts Estate produce. 

A small selection of special diets can be catered for when arranged in advance (please use our booking forms to ensure this). Below are some examples of what you might expect to eat during your stay or day conference: 

Accommodation

Our facilities cater for up to 110 residential guests reasonably comfortably in an assortment of rooms, some with en-suite facilities available at an additional charge.

In the main house we have large shared spacious rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Most of these rooms have large windows with far reaching views over the grounds, lake and gardens. For those wanting a little more privacy and upgraded facilities, there are a selection of en-suite rooms in the Stable Block.


      

Catering

During your stay, you will be provided with meals lovingly prepared by the Gaunts House Catering Department. Catering Manager Kerri Joy and her team have a great reputation for providing freshly produced, delicious home cooked vegetarian cuisine. According to season and availability we like to use our own organic Gaunts Estate produce.  Special diets can be catered for when arranged in advance (for a small daily supplement). Meeting and Workshop Rooms

  • The Barn Theatre
 
(60’ x 30’, 19.4m x 9.7m) the largest workshop room, with sprung wooden floor, seats up to seats up to 150/175 - a light room suitable for large presentations, art and physical workshops.

  • The Ballroom

(31’ x 22’, 10m x 7.1m), seated capacity 80 people.
An elegant, tranquil room with antique grand piano, suited to larger groups, lectures and concerts, enhanced in winter by a log-burning stove, or lit by candlelight. Patio doors lead on to a small glass conservatory.

  • The Library

(30’ x 20’, 9m x 6.5m), seated capacity 45 people.
A peaceful reflective space with a log fire and many old books - a quiet space to sit and think whilst gazing out over the lawn. The Library also contains sofas and sound equipment so that the room can be used as a workshop space.

  • Ash Room
(21’9 x 21’6, 7m x 6.9m) seats 35 people. On the first floor, up the grand staircase, with high ceilings, chandeliers, marble fireplace and modern paintings. Ash overlooks the lake, lawns and the beautiful Dorset countryside.

  • Cedar Room
(21’6 x 17’3, 5.9m x 5.6m) seats 30 people. On the first floor, up the stone staircase, with high ceilings, chandeliers, marble fireplace and modern paintings. Cedar overlooks the extensive back lawn and the trees beyond.  Also used as our Sanctuary for in-house meditation and Yoga.

Day Conferences

Our meeting and workshop rooms can be set up as required with screen, flip chart, TV/DVD/CD player, sound system and OHP. Our largest room can accommodate 150 or so people seated theatre style. (See the Barn Theatre above). There is unlimited parking, alfresco dining space and a swimming pool which guests are invited to use free of charge.

We offer refreshments on arrival, mid-morning coffee and biscuits, two or three course lunch depending on your requirements followed by mid-afternoon refreshments. Fresh fruit is available as well as a large variety of fruit and herbal teas.

All meals are freshly cooked with fresh vegetables and locally sourced ingredients. We also cater for special diets, and can offer you the option of fish or white meat.  

We offer competitive rates for Day Conferences and have a long list of clients who return to us time and time again. Day Conference rates are subject to menu selection and numbers - so please enquire for further details.
