About Gaunts House

House

GAUNTS HOUSE, which takes its name from John Of Gaunt (1340-1399), who had a residence here, is a Georgian/Victorian mansion with castellated north tower, set in extensive grounds. The rooms and setting are spacious and remarkably peaceful; the atmosphere and environment extraordinary. Part of this is the spaciousness, the sheer size of the rooms, and the huge windows, like cinema screens, giving onto green and beautiful gardens, and the countryside stretching forever into the distance. Part is inherent in the people and staff, in their awareness, caring and service. Part is in the peace and comfort of the place. Coming to Gaunts is a special experience.

Facilities at Gaunts House include bedrooms for small & large groups of up to 120 plus unlimited camping, excellent vegetarian catering; ballroom with piano, library with open fire, study centre, therapy rooms, an outdoor swimming pool; labyrinth, organic walled garden; good camping facilities; carousel & overhead projection; bonfire, barbecue & sweat lodge sites; radio microphones and amplification; small shop; smoking room with licensed bar (on request); lake; plenty of car parking; 3.3 miles of River Allen; woods and wildlife; wonderful grounds; miles of walks in the Dorset countryside and lots of fresh air!
